Barnett Lane is thought to be a section of the road, or bridle track, from the Roman road originating in Droitwich. If you study a map of the area this can be traced down Bells Lane, over the river and along Highpark Avenue, then down through Norton. It is named after a Kingswinford family called Barnet. Edward Barnet was buried on 23rd April 1627 at St.Mary's Church, Kingswinford. Barnett Lane is marked on both William Yates' 1775 map of Staffordshire and Fowler's 1822 map.
